Krugerrand Coins
The Krugerrand is a South African Gold and Silver Coin, with the first Gold Coin minted in 1967 to help market South African gold produced by the South African Mint and the Silver Krugerrand first minted in 2017. By 1980 the Gold Krugerrand accounted for 90% of the global gold coin market. The name itself is a compound of Kruger (the former South-African president depicted on the obverse) and Rand, the South African unit of currency. During the 1970's and 1980's some Western countries forbade import of the Krugerrand because of its association with the apartheid government of South Africa. The coins are minted in Proof, Bullion Uncirculated and in 2017 only a Premium Uncirculated version. The London Coin Company offers a wide range of South African Krugerrand Coins and Sets struck in solid 22 Carat Gold and solid Fine .999 Silver issued in many sizes and weights to suit every collector's budget which include Prestige Sets, Special Launch Mint Mark Sets and much more. |
