The reverse, designed by Jean Baptiste Merlen, is based on the William IV 1831 Crown and features a shield, while the obverse depicts the Portrait of His Majesty King Charles III by Martin Jennings and a milled edge. These legal tender coins have been struck to matte proof quality using specially prepared dies and blanks.
