In 2020, to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of VE-Day, the Royal Mint is releasing a Limited Issue VE-Day £2 Two Pound Gold Proof Coin First Day Cover struck in solid 22 Carat Gold.

The reverse designed by Dominique Evans features a cheering crowd and the words Victory while the obverse features the Fifth Portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.

• All eight End of the Second World War Special Stamps are presented alongside the Gold Proof £2 VE Day coin struck from 916.7 Au Red Gold using specially polished dies for a flawless Proof finish.
• The coin’s mirrored and frosted relief is favoured by coin collectors.
• The edge inscription, ‘JUST TRIUMPH AND PROUD SORROW’, is taken from George V’s address to the nation on the day.
• Illustrated inserts recall celebrations around the world following the formal end of the Second World War.
• Individually numbered and hand-stamped with a special 8 May 2020 postmark.
