In 2020 to celebrate the Olympic Games held in Tokyo and Team GB's participation which has now been postponed, the Royal Mint have released a special Limited Issue Tokyo Olympic Games Team GB 50p Fifty Pence Gold Proof Coin struck in solid 22 Carat Gold.

The reverse designed David Knapton features some of the different sports equipment used at the Tokyo Olympic Games while the obverse design depicts the Fifth Portrait of Elizabeth II by Jody Clark.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.

As the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games are no longer taking place the original issue of the Boxed Coin in Gold, Silver and Presentation Pack versions for 2020 will no longer be issued making this coin highly collectable.
