In 2020 to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of Rosalind Franklin , the Royal Mint released a special Limited Issue Rosalind Franklin 50p Fifty Pence Gold Proof Coin struck in solid 22 Carat Gold and is the second coin in the Innovation in Science Series.

The reverse designed by David Knapton celebrates Rosalind Franklin and the discovery of DNA and features Photograph 51 while the obverse depicts the Fifth Portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
