2008 Emblems of Britain Gold Proof 7 Coin Set Box Coa

In 2008 for the last time ever, the Royal Mint have released a Limited Issue Gold Proof 7 Coin Set of the Emblems of Britain Coinage all struck in solid 22 Carat Gold to mark this watershed in numismatic history and to commemorate the reverse designs that have served Britain well for almost 40 years.

For the first time since decimalisation, the legal tender coins of the United Kingdom will undergo a major design change.
In the late Spring of 2008, the Nation will see new designs on the coinage, from the £1 to the 1p, reflecting a more modern 21st Century Britain.
The obverse of all the coins, designed by Ian Rank Broadley, is the stunning portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
