In 2007 to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the First American Eagle Platinum Coin, the United States Mint released a very Limited Issue Liberty Eagle $50 Fifty Dollar Platinum Proof Coin struck in solid .9995 Platinum weighing one half of an ounce of pure Platinum Certified Slabbed and Graded by PCGS as PR70 DCAM.
The American Eagle Platinum Coin features a cameo image floating on a mirror-like background.
The coin features a design symbolic of Liberty on the obverse. On the reverse is a design of Bald Eagle with its wings spread wide to represent freedom, with a shield at the ready to enforce the laws that guarantee this freedom.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
