In 2004 to celebrate the Gillick Portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the Royal Mint released a very special Limited Issue Gillick Portrait 13 Coin Collection.
The Gillick Portrait Collection comprises thirteen coins of pre-decimal era all bearing the portrait of the Queen by Mary Gillick.
The two gold sovereigns are the first and last struck with the Gillick effigy, two crowns are the only ones with the Gillick's head and nine coins made for circulation are of the last year date of general issue.
All produced at the Royal Mint at Tower Hill and are among the best quality available from the secondary market.
The circulating coins were eventually demonetised with the advent of decimalisation whereas the sovereigns and the crowns remain legal tender to the present day.
The collection has an Issue Limit of 1,500 Sets worldwide and includes the original Royal Mint Red Box and individually numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
