In 2002 to commemorate the Memorial of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, the Royal Mint in conjunction with Westminster released a very Limited Issue Queen Mother Memorial £5 Five Pound Gold Proof Coin First Day Cover struck in solid 22 Carat Gold and the cover hand painted by the esteemed Christine Ellingham .

The reverse has a 3/4 portrait of the Queen Mother within a wreath with the inscription 'Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother' and the dates '1900 -2002', designed by Avril Vaughan.
The obverse design is a portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank Broadley.
