In 2002 to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee, the Royal Mint in conjunction with Westminster released a very special Limited Issue Golden Jubilee £5 Five Pound Gold Proof Coin First Day Cover struck in solid 22 Carat Gold and the cover hand painted by the esteemed Christine Ellingham.

In harmony with the Crowns struck for the Coronation and the Silver Jubilee a splendid equestrian portrait features on the obverse, while the reverse bears a mature and reflective portrait of the Queen.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
