In 1995 to commemorate D-Day and the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the Islanders, the Royal Mint on behalf of Alderney released a Limited Issue Brilliant Uncirculated £2 Two Pound Coin.

The reverse designed by Dutch sculptor and medallist Willem Vis symbolises the overwelming relief and joy of the islanders at the arrival of their liberators.
The obverse features a portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Raphael Maklouf.
