In 1989, to celebrating the 300th Anniversary of the Scottish Claim of Right, the Royal Mint released a special Limited Issue Claim of Right £2 Two Pound Proof Coin.

The reverse shows the Cypher of William and Mary, the House of Commons Mace and the Crown of Scotland.
The obverse has a portrait of the Queen circled by the wording 'ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA F D' with the denomination 'two pounds' designed by Raphael Maklouf.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
