In 1978 the Royal Mint released a very Limited Issue Lunar Year of the Horse $1000 One Thousand Dollar Gold Proof Coin struck in solid 22 Carat Gold on behalf of the Hong Kong Government and has been Certified Slabbed and Graded by PCGS as PR68 DCAM.

The reverse design depicts an artists impression of a species of Horse commonly found in Hong Kong and China.
The obverse has Arnold Machin's portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
