In 1902 to celebrate the Coronation of King Edward VII, the Royal Mint released a special St George and the Dragon £5 Five Pound Gold Sovereign Coin struck in solid 22 Carat Gold.

The reverse design depicts Pistrucci's St George Slaying the Dragon while the obverse features George William De Saulles portrait of King Edward VII.
Mintage of 35,000 but 27,000 were melted, leaving a mintage of 8,000 coins.
