In 2010 to commemorate Poppy Day and the Last Canadian World War I veteran, the Royal Canadian Mint released a very special Limited Issue Colour $1 One Dollar Silver Proof Coin struck in solid .925 Sterling Silver.

The reverse designed by Christie Paquet features a sea of poppies, one enameled in vibrant colour to represent the individual saga lived by each veteran of war, one of countless stories played out in conflicts around the world past, present and future.
The obverse a stunning portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.
