In 2006, to celebrate the Queen's 80th Birthday, the Royal Mint released a special Limited Issue Queen's 80th Birthday Lenticular Holographic Nickel-Brass Medal.
Using revolutionary Lenticular technology, the coin features the first holographic portrait of a reigning monarch. Commissioned by Jersey Heritage Trust and entitled Equanimity, the image was created by light artist Chris Levine, who produced it from official photographs of the Queen taken during two sittings at Buckingham Palace. The reverse, designed by Harry Brockway, depicts supporters from the Royal Arms and St Edward's Crown.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
