In 2002 to celebrate the Queens Golden Jubilee, the Royal Mint released a very Limited Issue Portcullis 1p One Pence Gold Proof Coin struck in solid 22 Carat Gold Certified Slabbed and Graded by PCGS as PR70 DCAM.
The reverse of the Gold Proof 1p One Pence Coin features the familiar portcullis design with chains royally crowned, designed by Christopher Ironside.
The obverse design features Ian Rank Broadley's portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
