In 2000, to celebrate the Millennium, the Irish Mint released a very Limited Issue Millennium Piedfort £1 One Pound Silver Proof Coin struck in solid .925 Sterling Silver.
The reverse design depicts a Cross within a stylized ancient ship with long oars and two stars above, while the obverse features the date and a Gaelic Harp. These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
