1997 Sovereign Gold Proof 3 Coin Set Box Coa

In 1997 the Royal Mint released a very Limited Issue Sovereign Gold Proof 3 Coin Set struck in solid 22 Carat Gold and includes the £2 Double Sovereign, Full Sovereign, Half Sovereign.

Whilst the Full Sovereign and Half Sovereign remain unchanged and continue to feature Pistrucci's St George and The Dragon, the 1997 £2 Two Pound Double Sovereign Coin carries a new design commemorating the first year of issue of the circulating Shoulders of Giants £2 Two Pound Coin.

The reverse design of the new £2 Two Pound Coin created by Bruce Rushin depicts four concentric circles emanating from the heart of the coin, celebrating the developments of Technology from the Iron Age to today's age of Cyberspace.

The obverse of all the coins is the stunning portrait of Queen Elizabeth II designed by Raphael Maklouf.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
