1996 United Kingdom 25th Anniversary of Decimalisation Silver Proof 7 Coin Set Box Coa
In 1996 to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Decimalisation, the Royal Mint released a very special Limited Issue Silver Proof 7 Coin Set all struck in solid .925 Sterling Silver of the circulating coinage of the United Kingdom.
The coins are issued under the authorisation of Royal Proclamations and have been declared legal tender in the United Kingdom.
Each reverse reflects in part the history of the United Kingdom.
The £1 One Pound Coin is the work of Norman Sillman, the 20p Twenty Pence Coin is by William Gardner and the remaining coins bear the designs prepared by the late Christopher Ironside at the time of decimalisation.
The obverse of the coins bears the acclaimed portrait of Her Majesty, the Queen by sculptor Raphael Maklouf.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
