In 1992, the Royal Mint released a very Limited Issue Decimal Proof 9 Coin collection of the present coinage of the United Kingdom.
The collection includes the new size 10p Ten Pence Coin, and specially designed 50p Fifty Pence Coin to commemorate Britain's Presidency of the Council of Ministers in 1992 and the Completion of the European Single Market, effective from 1st January 1993. Appropriately, the 50p Fifty Pence Coin is dual dated.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
