In 1937 to celebrate the Coronation of King George VI, the Royal Mint released a special St George and the Dragon Coronation Sovereign Gold Proof 4 Coin Set struck in solid 22 Carat Gold.

The set includes the original Royal Mint Red Leather Case and the following: Gold Proof £5 Five Pound, £2 Two Pound Double Sovereign, Full Sovereign and Half Sovereign Coins.
The reverse of all the coins feature Pistrucci's St George Slaying the Dragon while the obverse depicts the Bare Head portrait of King George VI.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
