For 2021 to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Discovery of Insulin, the Royal Mint released a Limited Issue Insulin 50p Fifty Pence Gold Proof Coin struck in solid 22 Carat Gold.

The reverse, designed by Iris De La Torre features an artistic interpretation of the structure of insulin along with its molecular formula while the obverse has the stunning portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
