In 2017, to celebrate the Sapphire Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the Royal Mint released a Limited Issue Sapphire Jubilee £1000 One Thousand Pound Gold Proof Coin struck in solid fine .999 Gold weighing one kilo of pure Gold.

The reverse designed by Gregory Cameron depicts the Coat of Arms from the late seventeenth century, an olive branch, a symbol of faithfulness and reconciliation, and on the right, a branch of oak, representing stability and loyalty in service.
The obverse design features the Fifth Portrait of Queen Elizabeth II designed by Jody Clark.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
