The reverse designed by sculptor Sir Anthony Caro and the artist, author and ping-pong ace Tom Phillips incorporates elements suggesting Olympic pennants and the Olympic Flame, to represent the highest ideals of the Games as a uniting force for good.
The obverse depicts Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II designed by Ian Rank Broadley FRBS .
