In 2011, to celebrate the Countdown to the London 2012 Olympic Games, the Royal Mint released a Limited Issue Brilliant Uncirculated Countdown £5 Five Pound Coin and is the third in a series of four coins.

The reverse designed by Claire Aldridge depicts an image of a Cyclist designed in harmony with the logo graphics.
Also featured is the countdown number, '1', representing one year to the great event, and the London 2012 Olympic logo.
The obverse design is the stunning portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank Broadley.
