In 1982, the Mexican Mint released Libertad Angel Silver Coin struck in solid fine .999 Silver weighing one ounce of pure Silver.

The reverse is the stunning Independence Angel, the symbol of Mexico City, and it stands in front of the Iztacc'huatl and Popocat'ptl volcanoes.
The obverse features an eagle battling a snake (Mexico's national coat of arms), which is surrounded by a wreath and the words "ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS". Encircling the centre are ten eagle designs that have been used as National Emblems through the centuries, including one depicted in the 16th century Mendocino Codex, with the fineness and amount of silver, the date, and the name of the issuing country ('MEXICO').
