1818 King George III Crowned Shield Gold Half Sovereign Coin struck in solid 22 Carat Gold Certified Slabbed and Graded by NGC as MS63.
The reverse depicts a Crowned Shield while the obverse has the Laur Head portrait of George III. In 1817 after the Royal Mint had moved from the Tower of London to a site on Tower Hill, full production got under way and coinage changed from the old Guinea to the Sovereign.
The launch of the first sovereign designed by Benedetto Pistrucci has the stunning St George and the Dragon on the reverse and the obverse has a portrait of George III. 1816 which was a landmark in the history of coinage. After the Royal Mint had moved from the Tower Mint to another site in Tower Hill full regular production was under way.
