1997 GOLDEN WEDDING ANNIVERSARY £5 FIVE POUND GOLD PROOF CROWN COIN
In 1997, to celebrate the Golden Wedding Anniversary of The Queen and Prince Philip, the Royal Mint struck a special Limited Issue Gold Proof Commemorative £5 Five Pound Crown.
The reverse is designed by Leslie Durbin and combines the Royal Arms and the Royal Crown; beneath them is an anchor, representing the Prince‘s naval career.
The obverse is a portrait of the royal couple designed by Philip Nathan.
These legal tender coins have been struck to proof quality using specially prepared dies and highly polished blanks.
